Self-published ebooks often have a bad rap. That is understandable, as there's a lot of garbage around. But as both a self-published eBook author and as someone who purchases self-published ebooks, I do believe it's one of the better techniques for finding information - once you know how to pre-qualify the e-book author. Following are four things I consider when searching for a self-published author before I hit the buy now button.

1. Author Experience: This is actually the first area I investigate when I'm looking at an e-book from a self-published author. I must know if they've expertise in what they're speaking about. Many traditionally published books include a great deal of fluff, or are extremely traditional of their advice. eBook publishers are generally the other. They've was able to locate a success formula without going the traditional route, and they also put this expertise in a guide. And, this why I love buying ebooks from self-published authors. It is first-hand advice from somebody who took the bull with the horns, found success, and shared it in the book. 2. Professional Background: It is a close cousin concise above. I love to glean a little in regards to the self-published author's background. This provides me some comprehension of their depth practical experience and yes it tells me a great deal about how precisely they approach their subject matter. As one example, I have been previously an independent writer since 1993 and also have held it's place in publishing since 1987. So, I realize about freelance writing from many different angles. Once i write, this experience results in inside the subject theme. People sees that I understand what I'm talking about. I want to realize that a self-published author knows what he/she's talking about before I buy at their store. 3. Author Website: It is possible to discern a lot a good e-book author from his/her website/blog. I try to find specifics like have they got other in-depth information about their website, or perhaps is it filled with a lot of unrelated affiliate products? Could be the site filled with content pulled from article submission sites, or contains the author written extensively about them him/herself? Could be the site updated regularly, or was the last post last month? All of this lets me know how well the writer knows his/her material and just how serious they are regarding profession. 4. Google the writer: One of the better solutions to find out more about an e-book author is usually to simply Google their name. You'd be amazed at that of a simple Google search can create. Some tips i mainly search for is further professional credentials and/or involvement within the niche their eBook is approximately. For example, they have written for, been mentioned on, or took part in discussions on other sites? Have they been published on blogs inside their niche? Do others connect to their material or consider them a specialist? All this lends credence for their legitimacy and author status. Good Stephen Leather dispense first-hand information within a professional, no-nonsense manner. It isn't really fluff, but experience which can be copied with facts. And that is why self-publishing is growing and reputable guide authors are thriving.
