Self-published ebooks often have a bad rap. That is understandable, as there's lots of garbage on the market. But as both a self-published eBook author in addition to being someone that purchases self-published ebooks, I do believe it's one of the better methods for getting information - knowing how you can pre-qualify the e book author. Following are four things I consider when searching for a self-published author before I hit the buy now button.

1. Author Experience: This is actually the first area I investigate when I'm looking at an book from a self-published author. I must know if they've experience in what they are discussing. Many traditionally published books have a lots of fluff, or are very traditional of their advice. eBook publishers tend to be the alternative. They have got were able to find a success formula without going the regular route, and they also put this experience of an e-book. And, this why I prefer buying ebooks from self-published authors. It can be first-hand advice from somebody that took the bull from the horns, found success, and shared it in an guide. 2. Professional Background: This is the close cousin to the level above. I love to glean just a little about the self-published author's background. Thus giving me some comprehension of their depth of know-how also it informs me a whole lot about how precisely they approach their subject theme. For example, I've been a contract writer since 1993 and have visited publishing since 1987. So, I am aware about writing from many different angles. After i write, this experience comes across in the subject matter. People is aware that I understand what I'm talking about. I want to understand that a self-published author knows what he/she's referring to before I order from their store. 3. Author Website: You'll be able to discern a good deal about an e-book author from his/her website/blog. I seek out specifics like do they have other in-depth facts about the website, or possibly it full of lots of unrelated affiliate marketing programs? Could be the site filled with content pulled from article directory sites, or contains the author written extensively about the subject him/herself? Will be the site updated regularly, or was the very last post last month? This lets me discover how well the article author knows his/her subject matter and how serious they may be regarding profession. 4. Google the Author: One of the better methods to learn more about an e book author is to simply Google their name. You would be surprised about what a simple Internet search can create. Some tips i mainly search for is further professional credentials and/or involvement from the niche their eBook is about. By way of example, have they been written for, been mentioned on, or taken part in discussions on other sites? Were they been published on blogs of their niche? Do others hyperlink to their material or consider them an authority? All of this lends credence to their legitimacy and author status. Good Stephen Leather books dispense first-hand information in the professional, no-nonsense manner. It isn't really fluff, but experience that may be supported with facts. And that is why self-publishing is growing and reputable e-book authors are thriving.
