Concerning the Service The B'nei Mitzvah service is so spiritually fulfilling. It symbolizes your teenager's transformation from child to adult within the eyes of our own faith. When B'nei Mitzvah recite the blessings in the Torah, they are affirming that they are tall enough to get accountable for all of that will be passed for them - our traditions, rituals, teachings, and culture - and that they will uphold and, therefore, pass every one of them to another generation. This moment is widely known at Washington-Hebrew-Congregation-DC-Mitzvah whenever a youngster reads from the Torah initially publicly during Shabbat services on a Saturday morning or evening. The B'nei Mitzvah also lead many of the prayers, read from the Haftarah (the books of the Prophets), and share their thoughts about the Torah portion and its particular link with us via a d'var Torah (words of Torah). That is a classic Shehechiyanu moment! Mazel tov!
