You might have seen Leah Devora`s striking and welcoming art in the media hanging on the groups of HBO`s hit series, Entourage, along with E.R., Without A Trace, West Wing and Six Feet Under or possibly with the Arc Light Theater on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, where she had an exhibit of stars and celebrities around the walls between the cinemas. Her art is bold, exciting beautiful. I recieve inspired by daily life situations which i encounter and living in that which was the first Old Hollywood neighborhood with the 1920s. Leah works in mixed media, on contemporary pop art, in some recoverable format, attached to wood, combining pictures of photography manipulated and digitally painted over a computer, as well as with traditional oil and acrylic paints.

My biggest strength is the ability to visualize something from starting to completion conceptually after which create my painting using a very honest vision. I’m a colorist and i also really realize how to use color within my be well as composition. When Leah moved to L . a . five years ago, she was captivated by each of the freeways and especially shopping carts appearing, disappearing, reappearing. From Silver Lake to Beverly Hills, shopping carts are scattered on front lawns, going out in groups, taking a rest about the yard or even waiting on the bus stop. They may be an indigenous part of the L.A. landscape. She integrates these images with the ones from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Several of my work consists of imagery that I call the Ghosts of L . a .. Whether it is the abandoned shopping carts left on the sidewalks of Los Feliz or photos of silent film starlets, the vitality of such displaced figurines haunt the neighborhoods of Hollywood of the past somewhat forgotten. The Ghosts that lie under the Hills, they walk amongst us. My landscapes are paintings that are the personification of those motifs, some of them I match the silhouettes of Old Hollywood celebrities and freeways. I create the artwork using graphics and oil painting techniques. I prefer paints, photography and paint digitally with an oil painting program on your computer. When i print them on canvas and paint them over with oils then varnish them. There aren’t actual photos from the artwork. http://leahdevora.com
