My relationship with silk started a long time ago when my back started troubling me and yes it became painful to change in your bed through the night. If I wore a satin dress, turning would have been a little easier. So I bought some silk making it my first silk sheet. With satin night clothes along with a silk sheets there was no resistance and nights were much more comfortable. Friends and family shared during my discovery, and so i started to making silk sheets for other people too.

Silk later became hard to source locally, and so in 2004 I undertook a vacation to China with the hope of looking for a suitable supply of fabric. Initially I found it tough to discover what I had been seeking as Chinese policy usually actively discourage the export of unworked silk fabric. But after a fair amount of endeavour, I had been able to uncover a trusted method to obtain wide silk, suitable for luxury bedding. Silk is a strong fibre which will last for many years with care. I wash my silk, and satin, within the appliance with a gentle, cool cycle along with a short spin. Use regular non-bleach detergent within the machine in addition to being silk sheets dry quickly, drive them inside again after a couple of hours. They can also be tumble dried over a low heat cycle. Work with a cool iron if desired. For me, life's too short to iron sheets, i really never do! Heat, sun and halogen lighting are damaging to silk. Habutai is one kind of several silk fabric types, differentiated by the weave used.
