One of the first influential memories I`ve from my childhood is my pops teaching me the optimal way to hold a swimming pool game cue. Dad could not admit to being a 'shark' as well as to 'hustling' but because I acquired older the research became clearer. After, what have also been years, of staring longingly with the cues hanging majestically on the wall I became finally receiving the opportunity to figure out how to use one. My pops had long since reached the standard of player where he could make, some tips i now know to get simple shots, using nearly every fibre. This was not to say that he had no idea about the magnitude in the significance about picking the best pool cue. This is not just a privilege to be taken lightly and lessons where you can have my up-most attention. I'd listened, with starry eyes, to stories of Dad going to the pool hall, like a young adult, perfecting his craft and walking away rewarded with extra jingle in their pocket. You can think of the sweetness of a child - someone was purchased playing a sport! Really? Here' was required to find out more about.

Firstly. Dad instructed me to pick out a pool stick cue from the rack. If you know he his 'special' best pool cue, I clued in to the indisputable fact that this approach held some importance. I grabbed a 42 inch, one piece cue with diamond etching around the shaft and looked to Dad for approval. His response was, 'How does it feel?' It felt like I was holding the holy grail! I became still overwhelmed by the privilege and not really understanding what he meant by 'feel'. He showed me the way to form a 'crook' using me added to the table with my forefinger raised and along with my thumb forming a circle to the cue to slide through, being sure that as I drew it back and forth the cue stayed true and failed to wobble. Like many things, this is more difficult to perform compared to what my Dad caused it to be look. By doing this he was teaching me the need for manipulating the cue smoothly to complete a clear shot. At this time I wasn't actually hitting a cue ball, just practicing my stance, hand position and stoke. He said, 'the pool stick cue should seem like section of you, imagine it is a personal third arm, work as one unit to hit the cue ball.' Here ended his first lesson. I used to be left to apply punching the imaginary ball. Next months I were looking forward to my lessons. Learning the different hand positions, angle shots, bank shots, etc. As I young teenager I could proudly proclaim i had perfected the fluke shot! Next lesson was that a lot of games did not allow flukes and call shot was the usual rule. I learned the importance of the angles on the table and suddenly geometry didn't seem so boring! While i spent my youth playing pool with Dad was our bonding time. It took over as the spot for him not just to offer his passion information of the sport, but where he told stories of his youth and gave advice to conditions just seemed simpler to discuss when pocketing the eight ball. After the last fork packed with dessert of a holiday meal have been swallowed the issue always followed: 'Whose up to get a game of pool?' We'd all fall into line and head as a result of the swimming pool table to assert our spot on the score board. Dad spent many hours teaching his children and as a consequence their children (even a number of great-grandchildren) the best way to play pool. We all realize what a wonderful privilege it was so we all treasure the beautiful memories we've got of bonding with him on the number of games of Snooker and Billiards, that became such a family tradition.
