One Piece is really a story of a son named Monkey D. Luffy who had been inspired from the pirate, Red-Haired Shanks. In early stages from the series, 22 years ahead of the present timeline, a pirate named Gold Roger, called the Pirate King was executed. However, before his death, Gold Roger told the group about his treasure, Watch one piece. His death sparked what might become the Golden Era of Pirates as countless pirates attempt to seek out his treasure. The key character, Luffy becomes a pirate, who desires becoming the next Pirate King and sets out to recruit crewmates and start his adventures. This tells the plot of One Piece. Nonetheless, this anime didn't become great overnight. One Piece features a great history that will let it become what everyone considers to be the greatest manga ever created.

One Piece all began together with the creator, Eiichiro Oda. Eiichiro Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's Dragonball and Dr. Slump with a early age. Since childhood, he took a liking to Vikings and the man aspired becoming a manga artist. Afterwards, Oda created Pandaman for Yudetamago's Kinnikuman. During 1992, Oda at the age of 17, posted the manga called Required. This got him noticed, enough to be able to join the staff inside the Weekly Shonen Jump paper. There, he became a helper under several established manga freelance home writers including Shinobu Kaitani, Masaya Tokuhiro, and lastly, Nobuhiro Watsuki. Oda had wanted to make a pirate manga from his dependence on vikings during his youth, and the man seemed to be inspired through various pirate events just like the discovery in the pirate vessel of Edward Teach, also known as Bleackbeard. He wrote two separate one-shots in the mid-1990s, each of which were called "Romance Dawn". The stories introduced Monkey D. Luffy, the straw-hat wearing boy who endeavors to sail the ocean to become a legendary pirate. Several concepts on the eventual serialization appeared with these stories, including Luffy's inspiration if you are a pirate along with the mysterious power he gained from eating a special fruit that turned his body into rubber. Some may recognize this concept since it relates to One Piece's concept regarding Devil Fruits. Around August 1997, Oda took the majority of his "Romance Dawn" ideas and started with these inside a weekly serial underneath the particular title "One Piece". It was first serialized in Shonen Jump, the weekly shonen magazine managed by Shueisha. The actual series quickly caught on and have become popular throughout the initial chapters and onwords, becoming among the premiere manga series inside magazine. At first, Oda wanted his series running for years, meaning One Piece would've ended in 2002, yet he went over expected. At this time, all people have little idea the number of more years his story will likely take. Oda had already planned the ending from the start of 1 Piece. Despite the time it will require him to do it, he stated he'll end One Piece the best way he planned right away. One Piece has since spanned across the borders of Japan becoming something higher than a simple pirating tale. As time passes from its serialization, One Piece has taken different directions in its storyline at times wavering in the initial focus in the mission for become Pirate King. One Piece has been noted to incorporate many themes including what treasure is, this is of justice combined with concept of chasing dreams.
