Happy New Year!7229992
Before month or so the theme has been the New Year--this may be the year we'll be healthier, give up smoking, make and reduce expenses money, wardrobe raise, and find Mr or Ms Right or get rid of the connection that doesn't work. TV, radio and also the internet bombard us with services promising you will definately get it right this time. The subliminal message is recently you have failed doing something. A lot of emphasis is placed on "out using the old along with with the new". Yes, the past year was imperfect, this also year will likely be imperfect too. We learn from our mistakes, moreover we study on our successes. Look not merely at our flaws, but our potential. Choose to get this to an optimistic, empowering time. Should your goal would have been to lose 10# and you also lost only 5# have you failed? Didn't you have some great experiences would you trade? Weren't those family dinners' experiences you wouldn't trade? You can make different choices in 07 without feeling those in 06 were disasters.
Anais Nin bakes an unfortunate but typical quote. "I made no resolutions for your Year. The habit of smoking of making plans, of criticizing, sanctioning and molding playing, is way too much of a daily event for me personally."
Consider resolving to put those types of quotes "out" and bring from the "new" with a positive happy new year shayari. Get this simply an empowering year and earn one resolution you can accept. In 2010, resolve to start the New Year considering your successes and never seeing only failure. Look at, replicate and celebrate the successes. Take your best success in 06, scrutinize what you did to generate the success, the tactics and methods - and do it again.
I learned this coming from a very wise manager. I had just closed an extremely large and enriching contract. My manager called me in to talk about "what is next". I talked about targets, prospects, SWOT's, the typical salesperson debriefing. He patiently listened and informed me that wasn't the knowledge he needed. He asked generate an income learned that client, what made it happen-- and that he simply explained to "go out and take action again".
If we focus on what we should did wrong, we attract and repeat our mistakes. It's very very easy to recall friends (yourself) who have made the comment "this always goes wrong with me". We are that in failure, not in success. Get this to 4 seasons you say, "This always goes wrong with me" and be discussing your positive successes.
Its difficult, normally only the failures are delivered to our attention with great impact. It will take deliberate, conscious action to look at things this way, deliberate, conscious action to check out things using this method; although it is not being complacent, and continuing setting aggressive goals. Aggressive goals mean you are sometimes likely to strike out, expect temporary failures. Take on that should you not get out there and try taking some risk, you will already fail. The sport is much more often won with base hits than home runs.
Here are several ideas:
Resolve to...
Review and affirm your purpose in running a business. What service would you provide and the way your clients better for this.
Call your visitors and thank them. Within this phone call don't try to sell them something (don't close the threshold while on an opportunity either) but call without having other motive rather than to say "thank you".
Strengthen existing relationships. Research your client list. Target existing clients to get more business and plan how will you make it happen.
Contribute to your industry. Try an industry related nonprofit or trade organization as being a volunteer and make up a difference.
Keep learning. Require a course, engage a coach, and then grow professionally.
Step out of your safe place. Make those marketing calls! Call anyone per day you don't know.
Make a marketing strategy, calendar and daily action item list. In case you have one, dust them back, revise it and earn it current and relevant in 07.
Provide your understanding. Do over sell something. Create a method that you can add value in your product.
Differentiate. Find a new niche and grow it! Explore trends and anticipate change.
Quit whining! While you can find things out of your control, draw upon your resiliency to determine the opportunity in change. "No one can cause you to be a victim without your permission!" to produce a variation of your famous Eleanor Roosevelt quote.
Understand that your system and self will be the machine which make it all happen. Manage yourself in all of the ways.
Spend meaningful time with the family and loved ones. Say to them how important these are to you--often. They're the reason we do what we should do.
Keep your entire experiences and build with them. Tear nothing down, throw nothing out, keep your mistakes as lessons learned.
Remember each day is often a year! Best of luck for you you.
