This is primarily because of the genre's focus on the seamier facets of life; hip-hop soul singers also have adult language and themes, which includes drawn censure from individuals who feel the genre of music, much like hip-hop, glorifies negative stereotypes. Although hip-hop soul witnessed an ordinary period together with the emergence of Neo Soul, another R&B subgenre within the late 90s, now it is experiencing an increase in popularity as a result of singers like Jaheim, Amerie, Keyshia Cole, and Anthony Hamilton.
