For all of us who spent my childhood years from the 1980s, the background music of the decade will continue the soundtrack to the key moments in our lives. Music acts as a time machine, transporting us back over time and rekindling memories, both the good and the bad, and 1980s music provided a tune for each and every event for the reason that tumultuous decade.

The 80s began in turmoil and social unrest and also the music reflected this requirement for change. The decade began hanging about the coattails with the Punk revolution that took direct action against the bland musical fare in the late seventies, but finished stadium rock, manufactured mass produced pop and a confidence and swagger that matched the world's mood once we entered the 90's inside a spirit of optimism and hope with falling from the Iron Curtain in 1989. The dawn in the MTV era meant that the visual appeal of your band was as important as their musical ability which principle was seized upon from the New Romantic Movement, who dressed flamboyantly and daubed themselves with makeup -annoying their elders around it delighted their peers. Having begun in such a condition of flux, 1980s music continued to evolve as technologies emerged and artists, musicians and film makers began to experiment. However, because the decade unfurled, and so the mainstream music, once again, returned to a formulaic approach with the production companies, such as the phenomenally successful 'Stock, Aitkin and Waterman' manufacture hit after hit after hit of disposable pop. This saw the rise with the producer - the leading people with the bands selected just as much for their eye candy appeal because talent or ability to write songs and play instruments. Music had truly become all the a visible medium being an aural one. Nevertheless, a strong 'alternative' scene survived with these times, as diverse as Indie rock and pop, Goth, Reggae and House. 1980s music laid the foundations for therefore a lot of the music activity we tune in to today.
