For people who spent my childhood years from the 80s music, the music activity of that decade will continue the soundtrack to the key moments of our lives. Music acts as a time machine, transporting us back over time and rekindling memories, both the good and bad, and 1980s music provided a tune for each event because tumultuous decade.

The 80s began in turmoil and social unrest and the music reflected this requirement of change. The decade began hanging onto the coattails with the Punk revolution that took direct action contrary to the bland musical fare in the late seventies, but finished stadium rock, manufactured mass produced pop plus a confidence and swagger that matched the earth's mood as we entered the 90's in the spirit of optimism and hope with falling with the Iron Curtain in 1989. The dawn with the MTV era resulted in the overall look of an band was as critical as their musical ability and this principle was seized upon with the New Romantic Movement, who dressed flamboyantly and daubed themselves with makeup -annoying their elders around it delighted their peers. Having begun in this particular state of flux, 1980s music continued to evolve as technology emerged and artists, musicians and film makers began to experiment. However, since the decade unfurled, so the mainstream music, yet again, returned with a formulaic approach using the production companies, like the phenomenally successful 'Stock, Aitkin and Waterman' manufacture hit after hit after hit of disposable pop. This saw the rise in the producer - the leading men and women of the bands selected just as much for eye candy appeal as any talent or power to write songs and play instruments. Music had truly become just as much a visible medium as an aural one. Nevertheless, a strong 'alternative' scene survived through these times, as diverse as Indie rock and pop, Goth, Rap and House. 1980s music laid the principles for thus high of the music we listen to today.
