For people who was raised in the 80s, the background music of these decade will remain the soundtrack on the key moments of our lives. Music provides a time machine, transporting us back over the years and rekindling memories, both the good and bad, and 1980s music provided a tune for every single event for the reason that tumultuous decade.

The 80s began in turmoil and social unrest along with the music reflected this requirement of change. The decade began hanging on to the coattails of the Punk revolution that took direct action from the bland musical fare from the late seventies, but finished stadium rock, manufactured mass produced pop plus a confidence and swagger that matched earth's mood even as we entered the 90's in the spirit of optimism and hope with falling with the Iron Curtain in 1989. The dawn of the MTV era meant that the visual appeal of an band was as essential as their musical ability and also this principle was seized upon through the New Romantic Movement, who dressed flamboyantly and daubed themselves with makeup -annoying their elders up to it delighted their peers. Having begun in this particular condition of flux, 1980s music continued to evolve as technology emerged and artists, musicians and movie makers did start to experiment. However, as the decade unfurled, so the mainstream music, once again, returned with a formulaic approach using the production companies, much like the phenomenally successful 'Stock, Aitkin and Waterman' manufacture hit after hit after hit of disposable pop. This saw the rise from the producer - the front women and men of the bands selected as much because of their eye candy appeal as any talent or capability to write songs and play instruments. Music had truly become all the a visible medium as a possible aural one. Nevertheless, a strong 'alternative' scene survived throughout these times, as diverse as Indie rock and pop, Goth, Rap and House. 1980s music laid the principles for so high of the background music we pay attention to today.
