For everyone who spent my childhood years in the 80s music, the background music of this decade will remain the soundtrack on the key moments individuals lives. Music acts as a time machine, transporting us back over time and rekindling memories, both the good and the bad, and 1980s music provided a tune for each event for the reason that tumultuous decade.

The 80s began in turmoil and social unrest and the music reflected this requirement of change. The decade began hanging about the coattails of the Punk revolution that took direct action against the bland musical fare with the late seventies, but finished with stadium rock, manufactured made in huge amounts pop as well as a confidence and swagger that matched the earth's mood even as we entered the 90's inside a spirit of optimism and hope with falling with the Iron Curtain in 1989. The dawn in the MTV era meant the overall look of your band was as important as their musical ability this also principle was seized upon by the New Romantic Movement, who dressed flamboyantly and daubed themselves with makeup -annoying their elders as much as it delighted their peers. Having begun in that condition of flux, 1980s music continued to evolve as technologies emerged and artists, musicians and movie makers begun to experiment. However, because the decade unfurled, hence the mainstream music, once again, returned to a formulaic approach using the production companies, like the phenomenally successful 'Stock, Aitkin and Waterman' manufacture hit after hit after hit of disposable pop. This saw an upswing of the producer - leading women and men in the bands selected all the for his or her eye candy appeal as any talent or power to write songs and play instruments. Music had truly become just as much a visible medium as an aural one. Nevertheless, a solid 'alternative' scene survived within these times, as diverse as Indie rock and pop, Goth, Rap and House. 1980s music laid the foundations for so much of the music activity we tune in to today.
