For individuals who spent my childhood years in the 80s, the music activity of these decade will continue the soundtrack to the key moments in our lives. Music behaves as a time machine, transporting us back over the years and rekindling memories, both good and bad, and 1980s music provided a tune for every single event because tumultuous decade.

The 80s began in turmoil and social unrest along with the music reflected this dependence on change. The decade began hanging about the coattails from the Punk revolution that took direct action against the bland musical fare of the late seventies, but finished with stadium rock, manufactured made in huge amounts pop along with a confidence and swagger that matched the world's mood once we entered the 90's in a spirit of optimism and hope with falling with the Iron Curtain in 1989. The dawn from the MTV era meant the visual appeal of an band was as critical as their musical ability and this principle was seized upon with the New Romantic Movement, who dressed flamboyantly and daubed themselves with makeup -annoying their elders just as much as it delighted their peers. Having begun in that state of flux, 1980s music continued to evolve as technology emerged and artists, musicians and movie makers begun to experiment. However, since the decade unfurled, and so the mainstream music, yet again, returned to some formulaic approach with the production companies, much like the phenomenally successful 'Stock, Aitkin and Waterman' manufacture hit after hit after hit of disposable pop. This saw an upswing of the producer - top women and men from the bands selected just as much for eye candy appeal every talent or power to write songs and play instruments. Music had truly become as much a visible medium as a possible aural one. Nevertheless, a solid 'alternative' scene survived throughout these times, as diverse as Indie rock and pop, Goth, Rap and House. 1980s music laid the principles for so most of the music activity we tune in to today.
