For all of us who spent my youth within the 80s movies, the songs of this decade will continue to be the soundtrack towards the key moments of our own lives. Music provides for a time machine, transporting us back over the years and rekindling memories, the two good and bad, and 1980s music provided a tune for every event in this tumultuous decade.

The 80s began in turmoil and social unrest and the music reflected this requirement of change. The decade began hanging onto the coattails with the Punk revolution that took direct action up against the bland musical fare in the late seventies, but finished stadium rock, manufactured produced in higher quantities pop as well as a confidence and swagger that matched the earth's mood even as entered the 90's in the spirit of optimism and hope with falling from the Iron Curtain in 1989. The dawn of the MTV era meant the look and feel of a band was as critical as their musical ability this also principle was seized upon with the New Romantic Movement, who dressed flamboyantly and daubed themselves with makeup -annoying their elders up to it delighted their peers. Having begun in that condition of flux, 1980s music continued to evolve as new technology emerged and artists, musicians and film makers begun to experiment. However, since the decade unfurled, hence the mainstream music, once more, returned with a formulaic approach together with the production companies, like the phenomenally successful 'Stock, Aitkin and Waterman' manufacture hit after hit after hit of disposable pop. This saw the increase of the producer - the front women and men from the bands selected as much for his or her eye candy appeal every talent or capacity to write songs and play instruments. Music had truly become just as much a visible medium as a possible aural one. Nevertheless, a solid 'alternative' scene survived within these times, as diverse as Indie rock and pop, Goth, Hip Hop and House. 1980s music laid the principles for so high of the music activity we hear today.
