My relationship with silk started in the past when my back started troubling me and it became painful to turn over in your bed in the evening. Basically wore a satin dress, turning was obviously a little easier. And so i bought some silk generating my first silk sheet. With satin night clothes along with a silk sheet there wasn't any resistance and nights were much more comfortable. Friends shared inside my discovery, and so i begun to making silk sheets for others too.

Silk later became difficult to source locally, so in 2004 I undertook a trip to China in the hope of locating a suitable way to obtain fabric. Initially I discovered it very difficult to determine what I used to be trying to find as Chinese policy seems to actively discourage the export of unworked silk fabric. But after having a fair volume of endeavour, I had been able to find a reliable source of wide silk, well suited for luxury bedding. Silk is often a strong fibre that will have longevity with good care. I wash my silk, and satin, from the washer on the gentle, cool cycle as well as a short spin. Use regular non-bleach detergent in the machine so that as silk sheets dry rapidly, drive them inside again after an hour or so. Glowing be tumble dried on the low heat cycle. Work with a cool iron if desired. I think, our life is just too short to iron sheets, i really never do! Heat, sun and halogen lighting are damaging to silk. Slubs and variations from the weave are thought part of silk's natural beauty. The pad is kind on your sleeping skin (cheeks won't wrinkle!). Some skin moisturisers even contain silk proteins. Silk is wonderful for allergy sufferers, as dust mites are not able to live within its fibres. Insects avoid eating silk. Both silk and satin pillow cases are known for their capacity to have a very persons hairdo set up while one sleeps. Silk is warm in the wintertime and funky in Summer. I personally are in a place which is renowned for extremely humid and hot summers and so am very grateful for your coolness in the fabric during hot spells. Silk works much the same as modern self-wicking fabrics in removing moisture in the skin. As opposed to threadcount as in cotton, silk is measured in mommes (mm), which is a weight measurement. The silk i found perfect for use in making sheets is 16mm Habutai Silk. Habutai is one of several silk fabric types, differentiated with the weave used.
