Silk later became hard to source locally, and so in 2004 I undertook a vacation to China in the hope of obtaining a suitable method to obtain fabric. But after having a fair volume of endeavour, I became able to uncover a dependable source of wide silk, suited to luxury bedding.
Silk is often a strong fibre that can last a long time with proper care. I wash my silk, and satin, in the washing machine on the gentle, cool cycle and a short spin. Use regular non-bleach detergent inside the machine so that as silk sheets dry rapidly, bring them inside again after an hour or so. Like be tumble dried with a low heat cycle. Make use of a cool iron if desired. I think, our life is simply too short to iron sheets, so I never do!
