My relationship with silk started in the past when my back started troubling me also it became painful to change over in their bed at night. Easily wore a satin dress, turning was a little easier. Therefore i bought some silk generating my first silk sheet. With satin night clothes as well as a silk sheets there wasn't any resistance and nights were a lot more comfortable. Relatives and buddies shared within my discovery, and so i started to making silk sheets for others too.

Silk later became difficult to source locally, and thus in 2004 I undertook vacation to China with the hope of locating a suitable supply of fabric. Initially I came across it difficult to learn what I was searching for as Chinese policy seems to actively discourage the export of unworked silk fabric. But after a fair level of endeavour, I had been able to uncover a reliable method to obtain wide silk, suited to luxury bedding. Silk can be a strong fibre that can last a long time with proper care. I wash my silk, and satin, in the washing machine on the gentle, cool cycle along with a short spin. Use regular non-bleach detergent from the machine and as silk sheets dry in a short time, bring them inside again after 1 hour. They can also be tumble dried on a low heat cycle. Utilize a cool iron if desired. For me, life's way too short to iron sheets, i really never do! Heat, sun and halogen lighting are damaging to silk. Slubs and variations inside the weave are believed portion of silk's pure beauty. The material is kind for your sleeping skin (cheeks won't wrinkle!). Some skin moisturisers even contain silk proteins. Silk is perfect for allergy sufferers, as dustmites cannot live within its fibres. Insects don't try to eat silk. Both silk and satin pillow cases are known for their capacity to maintain a persons hairdo available while one sleeps. Silk is warm in the wintertime and funky in Summer. I know live in a place that is renowned for extremely hot and humid summers therefore am very grateful for your coolness with the fabric during hot spells. Silk works quite similar as modern self-wicking fabrics in removing moisture from your skin. Instead of threadcount like cotton, silk is measured in mommes (mm), the weight measurement. The silk that we found best for used in making sheets is 16mm Habutai Silk. Habutai is one of several silk fabric types, differentiated by the weave used.
