Concerning the Service The B'nei Mitzvah service is so spiritually fulfilling. It symbolizes your teenager's transformation from child to adult from the eyes of our faith. When B'nei Mitzvah recite the blessings over the Torah, they may be affirming that they are tall enough to be responsible for all that will be passed in their mind - our traditions, rituals, teachings, and culture - and they also will uphold and, subsequently, pass these to another location generation. This moment is celebrated at Washington-DC-Hebrew-Congregation-Bat-Bar-Mitzvah every time a young person reads from the Torah for the first time publicly during Shabbat services over a 'life was imple' or evening. The B'nei Mitzvah also lead a few of the prayers, read in the Haftarah (the books from the Prophets), and share their thoughts concerning the Torah portion as well as connection to our way of life through a d'var Torah (words of Torah).
